NERJA YEAR-ROUND
The city of Nerja is a truly gem in the Malaga province. Here, you are in the more authentic part of the Spanish Southern Costas. Tourism has developed rather late, which has enabled the city council to learn from any mistakes made in the past in other regions of the Costa del Sol.. In Nerja you won’t find any sky scrapers for example.
‘El mejor clima de Europa’/Best climate of Europe: Embedded in the mountains, Nerja has a micro-climate that make the summers not too hot and the winters mild. With its 330 days of sun, Nerja is the perfect year-round holiday spot. And, only 55 km’s from Malaga Airport, it also very suitable for just a weekend trip with sunbathing, good food in fine restaurants or a tranquil recovery in the beautiful surrounding nature.
Its busy calendar of fiestas and festivals throughout the year have religious roots but some are meanwhile just for the heck of it. The many tasty dishes that make up the local cuisine, form the complete attraction of Nerja.. It has all ingredients to charm any visitor!
OLD TOWN IN ANDALUCIA
The old town of Nerja looks very Andalucian with the many white-washed houses and beautiful pebble streets. Its historic quarter has fine examples of popular architecture, very suitable for lovely walks with natural surroundings of cliffs, canyons and gorgeous mountain tops.
The famous Balcón de Europa cannot be missed and provides a splendid viewpoint over the sea, sometimes even until the Moroccan coast. On this same plaza, many couples from Spain ánd from abroad choose the glorious Iglesia de El Salvador for their wedding ceremony and they continue their photo shoot in the surrounding beautiful beaches and rocks. With Easter, the impressive Semana Santa religious processions are been held. In the Christmas period, the streets are beautifully decorated.

CITY BEACHES
Nerja is famous about its beautiful long sea front, formed by beaches, coves and cliffs. Among them there are 4 beautiful city-beaches with just a 2 or 3 mins. walk from our apartments in old town Nerja: Playa Calahonda, Playa El Chorrillo, El Salon and Playa Carabeo… The last mentioned is often overlooked by the hordes of tourists during the summer months.. But when you have found the steep steps that lead down to the beach you are ensured that this one stays relatively quiet and is beautiful!
Playa Calahonda is undoubtedly the most photographed cove in Nerja. Its 120 meters of sand, accompanied by small fishing boats and immaculate white sheds, form a beautiful postcard that every tourist wants to take with their camera.
In summer, Buriana Beach and its promenade is very popular and busy. Here you find many on-site restaurants, bars, cafes and shops. The chiringuitos serve various seafood and Paella during lunch time. There are several playgrounds for children and for the sporty people there are volleyball courts and water sports facilities.
All beaches offer a beautiful view of the rocky coastal landscape. In addition to the colorful fishing boats, you will also find showers, toilets, and a lifeguard station, all well-looked after.
Don’t forget the evenings.. many people go for an evening walk on the beach promenades with the cosy terraces.
GASTRONOMY
The compact center of Nerja makes that, when staying in one of our apartments you can reach the various restaurants and bodegas just by foot in a few minutes. The many restaurants are for all tastes and budgets. From the well-known tapas to really haute cuisine. Spanish, Italian and Asian restaurants and an increasing number of fusion- or ecological restaurants. Currently Nerja has 3 Michelin-guide restaurants. Ask Ron.. he will be happy to tell you the best places to go!
Don’t forget to taste the D.O. wines of Malaga (Designation of Origin Málaga). There are currently 3,800 hectares of vineyards in the province Malaga. The diverse topography and different climate zones -ranging from continental in the north, Mediterranean at the coast and subtropical in the Axarquia region- (where Nerja is situated) make Malaga wines unique.
Nightlife: For those who want to experience the local nightlife scene, the Plaza Tutti Frutti is full of late night bars and clubs. For a more exclusive, luxury experience: a real night restaurant has recently opened its doors.
SPORTS & FUN
The mix of sea and mountain scenery makes Nerja an excellent center-point for all kind of activities…And the year-round best climate of Europe does the rest!
HIKING: Many hiking routes start from Nerja, heading to the mountains of the Cerro Gordo or the Tejeda and Almijara. For this, there are various organized short and long walking tours to catch up with.
CYCLING: From short tracks in the Nerja-Frigiliana-Competa area to 2000 km-round trips through the entire Andalusia-region. Mountain bikes and e-bikes to rent at several shops in Nerja.
KAYAKING / SUPPING: Tours to visit the waterfalls and caves along the coast between Maro and Nerja.
GOLF: The nearest course is a 15 minute drive away: Baviera Golf, located in Caleta de Velez. 18 holes, Par 71, 5,609m, followed by Añoreta Golf, a 30 mins. drive.

SNOWBOARDING & SKI: In the beautiful mountains of the Sierra Nevada. In winter you drive in 1.5 hour from the Costa del Sol sunny beach and palm trees in Nerja to winter-wonder-land around Pradollano – Granada.
